Family Liaison
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The purpose of this position is to provide active, hands-on peer support to parents/caregivers
of youth receiving services. Effective peer support should be friendly, helpful, accessible and
flexible. Peer support may be delivered in individual or group settings at the agency, in family
homes or in community environments. The role of the Family Liaison is to provide peer
support, education and advocate for families.
Reports to Family Case Coordinator.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
● Must be the biological, adoptive, kin parent, or non-related family member of a youth
with emotional or behavioral challenges or has had systems experience with a child in a
child serving system (i.e. mental health, child welfare, probation and special education).
● Must have direct experiences with child serving systems (i.e. mental health, child
welfare, probation and special education).
● It is optimal for the Family Liaison to have experienced the level of care with a youth
equivalent to program assignment.
● Must have life experience as the parent of a youth with emotional or behavioral
challenges. Education in the area of social services is optimal but not necessary.
● Demonstrates an ability to maintain a non-judgmental attitude towards families.
● Flexibility in working hours required.
● Valid unrestricted, state-appropriate driver’s license.
● Must have reliable transportation and current vehicle insurance.
● Department of Justice/Fingerprint clearance
● Child Abuse Index clearance
● Completion of Background Investigation
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE OF THE FAMILY LIAISON:
1. Educate the family on the Wraparound Program history, process and goals.
2. Consider the family’s story to identify family strengths, possible team members, and
what parts of the Family Liaison’s story would be helpful for the team to hear.
3. Facilitate the Wraparound process, as appropriate, including presenting and explaining
the list of strengths prepared prior to the meeting and asking the team to identify
additional strengths during the meeting.
4. Assess the level of support that is needed by the parent based on the family's support
network, their ability to involve their support network, and the ability of the parent to
be heard by others.
5. Meet and communicate with the family regularly and consistently in order to
encourage and support an understanding of their vision for the future and
effectivements of the interventions.
6. Provide individualized, peer to peer support to parents.
7. Provide in-home education and training depending on family needs.
8. Work with the parent to develop plans/strategies of how the Family Liaison can support
the parent during meetings to ensure the parent’s culture, beliefs, experience, voice
and choice are heard by the team and are incorporated into the Wraparound Action
Plan.
9. Participate with the team in brainstorming a wide range of interventions to prioritize
needs, reminding team members of potential family strengths that will match
interventions.
10. Connect the family with identified community resources. Assist in introducing and
engaging the family with the community resource, ensuring they can access the service
after transition.
11. Documents services and keeps accurate family records.
12. Attend and participate in all Wraparound meetings.
13. Report to Family Case Coordinator regularly on family goals and progress.
Behavior Assistant
Part-Time, Flexible Schedule
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The position assists with treatment plans designed specifically toward strengthening or reducing client behaviors that may be impairing their daily life activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED

2 years of experience in a similar position or field

Personal experience with adoption is preferred

Valid unrestricted, state-appropriate driver’s license

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE OF BEHAVIOR ASSISTANT:

Provides direct care to clients in a one-on-one or group therapy setting. Can be either in the client home, in the office, or in the community

Builds a fun learning environment with effective teaching strategies that lead to optimal success

Collects and records data on client behavior

Analyzes the environment when challenging behaviors occur
-
Assists in creation of client treatment plan to reduce or strengthen client behaviors
-
Implements skill acquisition and behavior reduction treatments
-
Collaborates, communicates and assists with the training of clients, parents and staff
-
Provides crisis intervention as needed

Participates in Wraparound Family Meetings

Provides a safe and supportive environment for clients and their family

Documents services and service provision according to state, and federal guidelines.

Attends meetings with clients and families and provide support as needed

Family Assistant
Part Time
Afternoons/Weekends
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and fun environment for young children to teens and provides support to the caregivers. Their duties include coming up with creative and educational activities, preparing and serving snacks to children and maintaining a clean environment for the children. The family assistant adjusts to the needs of each family.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

2 years of experience in a similar position or field

Caring and compassionate attitude when interacting with and caring for children

Strong verbal communication and listening skills to converse with children, fellow professional caregivers and parents
-
Excellent patience and stamina for keeping up with the demands of children of all ages
-
Advanced multitasking and organizational skills to handle multiple children at a time
-
Valid unrestricted, state-appropriate driver’s license

Must have reliable transportation and current vehicle insurance

Department of Justice/Fingerprint clearance

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE OF FAMILY ASSISTANT:
Family Assistants are responsible for the well-being of the children under their care and provide support to the caregivers in a variety of ways depending on families needs. A Family Assistant may work in the home while caregivers are present, or when caregivers are away depending on families needs. They must monitor the children to ensure that they play and interact with one another in a safe and appropriate manner. Some of their typical duties include:

Ensuring the children remain safe and regulated

Ensuring the children have good hygiene and changing diapers as necessary

Providing intervention and discipline as necessary and according to family’s discipline guidelines
-
Cleaning interactive areas throughout the day
-
Preparing meals and snacks for the kids
-
Organizing activities and developing curriculum for older children
-
Assisting children with homework as needed
-
Teach children appropriate social behaviors, such as being respectful to each other and helping out with chores
-
Transport children to and from school and extracurricular activities
-
Perform housekeeping tasks as needed
-
Working with the family on a schedule for the children to maintain during your shift
-
Keeping records of each child’s progress, interests and any problems that may occur
-
Maintaining contact with the children’s parents and contacting them in the case of an emergency
Mentor

This position works directly with the youth of our Wraparound program, mentors are expected to build trusting relationships with their youth.
